DNC Saturday

Just Wow. It appears that Barack Obama is closing in on the Democratic Presidential nomination following action by the DNC's RBC today. Florida seats as expected, 1/2 vote for each delegate. The biggie for Obama was Michigan. He won hands a vote that granted him delegates from the "uncommitted" vote. Harold Ickes said that Senator Clinton will contest that in Denver.
...Hillary's chief delegate counter, Harold Ickes, seemed to signal that there's still a possibility that she might fight on. In a harsh tone of voice, Ickes told the committee that Hillary personally informed him that she reserves the right to take the dispute over Michigan to the Credentials Committee in Denver, on the grounds that the committee had no right to transfer "Uncommitted" votes over to Obama.
Now the noise will begin again in earnest that Clinton must get out of the race. The usual arguments of unity and distraction will be tossed about. I am not of the opinion that the party will suffer if the nomination is not locked up until August in Denver. I have faith that we are stronger than some would have us believe.

Speaking of faith, Senator Obama has resigned from Trinity United Church.
Obama's unexpected decision comes after a second controversy involving incendiary remarks from a pastor at the Trinity United Church of Christ, this time the Roman Catholic Rev. Michael Pfleger, who sharply ridiculed Sen. Hillary Clinton in a sermon last Sunday.
Let's hope this is soon enough to mitigate the damage the right wing will try to inflict in the general. Will the media pounce on him for throwing Trinity under the bus? We'll see.
